The death toll from the MV Barima ferry disaster in Guyana has risen to 41, while 77 people have been rescued, according to the latest update from authorities.
Search and recovery operations remain underway, with 16 vessels deployed and the search area expanded by an additional 400 square miles to Waini Point. French and local divers are continuing underwater operations at the wreckage site.
Authorities say the recovered bodies are being identified by relatives at Suddie Hospital, while all bodies retrieved are being transferred into the custody of the Guyana Police Force at the Charity River Dam.
