The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) says it has investigated the illegal construction of fish ponds in Barking Lodge, St. Thomas, and has issued a warning notice to the developer.
The investigation followed complaints from residents who raised safety concerns about the ponds, which were built next to the Barking Lodge Primary & Infant School.
The matter also attracted the attention of Member of Parliament for St. Thomas Eastern Rosemarie Shaw, who had previously said checks with NEPA had confirmed that no approval had been granted for the development.
Radio Jamaica News understands that the developer has submitted an application to NEPA following the warning notice.
The agency says the required fees have been paid, but it adds that the application has not yet been reviewed to determine whether it is complete.
