Trump again targets birthright citizenship with two executive orders

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders aimed at restricting birthright citizenship and cracking down on what's known as birth tourism.

The move follows a Supreme Court ruling that blocked an earlier Trump executive order seeking to limit automatic citizenship for children born in the United States under the Fourteenth Amendment.

The White House says the new orders rely on existing executive and immigration powers to tighten eligibility for birthright citizenship in some cases and discourage foreigners from travelling to the United States to give birth.

During the signing ceremony Trump again criticised the Supreme Court.
