Delroy Gordon, Executive Director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), has died.
Mr. Gordon died in the Port Maria Hospital in St. Mary early Thursday morning.
RJR News understands that he had been complaining of ill health over the last week and was hospitalised last night.
Mr. Gordon joined the JCDC in 1987 as the cultural organiser for St. Mary.
After serving in various managerial positions, he was appointed to the helm of the agency in October 2013.
In a statement, Culture Minister Olivia Grange, said Dr. Gordon was dedicated to cultural development and committed to the JCDC.
Meanwhile, former Culture Minister Lisa Hanna said the country has lost a true patriot who was dedicated to high quality service to the Jamaican people.
Ms. Hanna said through Dr. Gordon's efforts, the Government saved millions of dollars while maintaining high standards in culture.
