Members of the Jamaican Diaspora continue to express alarm at the country's crime rate.

They say a report that Jamaica had the region's highest homicide rate at 46.5 per 100,000 people last year is of major concern.

Diaspora member Shirnett Bailey says the crime rate is "extremely alarming" and is a major deterrent for many Jamaicans who want to return to the island to live or invest.

"That has been a factor that has affected us as Jamaicans and we'd love for that to change 'cause Jamaica is such a beautiful place, not just for tourists, but for all of us at home and abroad to enjoy and we would love to enjoy that fully and not have to worry about crime," she said.
