Dr. Thompson resigns as NCU President

Dr. Herbert Thompson, the President of the Seventh-day Adventist-owned Northern Caribbean University (NCU), has resigned.

Dr. Thompson resigned after 20 years of service because he reportedly lost the support of the Board.

RJR News understands also that there was a difference of opinion between Dr. Thompson and members of the board.

The news of Dr. Thompson's departure was announced at a special meeting held at the NCU Gymnatorium in Mandeville, manhester on Tuesday, June 14.

However, Dr Thompson's resignation took effect on Monday, June 13.

RJR News spoke with students from the institution and some say they are saddened by his departure and are concerned about the future of the institution.

Nigel Coke, the Director of Communications, Public Affairs and religious Liberty at the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists, said he was unable to comment on the issue.

A release from the NCU said Dr. Thompson has requested retirement as an active employee of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
