Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the education sector must equip students for the new realities that face the nation.

He says with artificial intelligence and climate change redefining the priorities of global investment, education systems must be forward-looking.

"That means redesigning our curriculum, rethinking how we use technology in the classroom, integrating STEM and digital literacy at all levels and investing in soft skills of communication, empathy and critical thinking," he noted.

More importantly, the Prime Minister said, the shift requires "strengthening the institutions and the people who deliver education every day."

"This is why we are investing in upgrading teacher training colleges, expanding access to higher education, creating targeted scholarships for STEM disciplines and supporting continuing education for our educators. It is also why we're developing a comprehensive teacher mobility strategy that recognises the reality of migration while building a sustainable model for teacher retention," he reasoned.

Dr. Holness was speaking while on a visit to the Mico University College on Wednesday.
