Audley Shaw, outgoing MP for North East Manchester
It was an emotional farewell for outgoing member of Parliament for North East Manchester, Audley 'Man a Yaad' Shaw on Sunday night.
Mr. Shaw has racked up the longest tenure by any MP in the parish, serving the constituency for 33 years.
Ambassador Audrey Marks was on Sunday officially presented as the Jamaica Labour Party's candidate to represent the constituency at a workers award ceremony.
Addressing the function, Mr. Shaw expressed appreciation for the support he has received from constituents.
"Having served for so long, time come," said the veteran MP, who promised to work with Senator Marks to ensure that the legacy of the constituency continues.
He also vowed to "ensure that Omar Miller becomes mayor".
Mr. Shaw had previously endorsed Mr. Miller, Councillor for the Craighead Division, as his choice to replace him in the constituency.
