Evidence Act amendments passed by Senate

The Jamaican Senate passed several amendments to the Evidence Act on Friday.

The changes to the Evidence Act allows evidence that is not being contested by either the Prosecution or the Defense. This type of evidence would include autopsy and ballistic reports.

With these amendments, computer generated evidence can be admitted into hearings with greater ease.

The changes will also allow for an attorney to appear for a client in the absence of the client.
