Ex-cop charged with 2018 murder in Bull Bay

An ex-policeman has been charged with murder in relation to an incident in Bull Bay, St. Andrew in 2018.
 
The ex-cop, Kevin Smalling, has also been charged with illegal possession of firearm.
 
He was arrested and charged on March 8 and brought before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on March 11.
 
Mr. Smalling was remanded. He is scheduled to return to court on March 19 when a bail application will be heard.
 
At the time of the shooting, Mr. Smalling was a constable, but off duty. He resigned from the Jamaica Constabulary Force in 2020 and migrated to the United States.
 
According to the Independent Commission of Investigations, following a probe, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions ruled that the ex-Constable be charged.
 
Mr. Smalling is accused of shooting his family member, Lentoney Smalling, at Lane Gate in 11 Miles Bull Bay on December 2, 2018.
 
The relative died on December 13.
