Family of Jamaican businessman in T&T paid kidnappers for his release

The police in Trinidad and Tobago have confirmed that relatives of Jamaican businessman Yohan Chin paid an undisclosed sum as ransom to his kidnappers who released him on Tuesday.

His release came 51 days after the relatives placed an advertisement, via a security firm, in which they reached out to his abductors to contact them to complete negotiations for his safe release.

According to Trinidad Newsday online, the police said Mr. Chin was taken for medical care and doctors gave him a clean bill of health.

The police are, however, tight-lipped about the investigations, including the amount paid.

The police have reportedly said arrests are imminent.

A US$6 million ransom was demanded for his safe return.
