The committal hearing for Detective Sergeant Sheldon Dobson who is charged with manslaughter following the death of his 18-month-old daughter in January last year, is scheduled to continue on February 28.
The hearing started in the St. Elizabeth Parish Court in Balaclava on Tuesday.
Sergeant Dobson's bail was extended.
He was charged in August following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Sergeant Dobson's daughter died after she was left locked inside her father's vehicle for eight hours at the Black River Police Station on January 19.
The policeman, who was expected to drop off his daughter at daycare, reportedly forgot that she was inside the vehicle when he went to work.
