Five men fatally shot during police operation on Jack's Hill Road

 
Five men were fatally shot during a major police operation along Jack's Hill Road, St. Andrew on Monday afternoon.
 
Four illegal firearms, including an M16 rifle, were seized. 
 
It's reported that about 12:50 p.m., members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC), went to 10 Jack's Hill Road in search of prohibited weapons.
 
Upon arrival at the location, the police team reportedly came under heavy fire. The fire was returned, and when the shooting subsided, five men were seen suffering from bullet wounds.
 
They were transported to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
 
A search of the area led to the recovery of four weapons, including an M16 rifle, shotgun, Glock 17 pistol, and a Taurus 9mm pistol, as well as an undetermined quantity of assorted ammunition.
 
The men have not yet been identified. 
 
The Independent Commission of Investigations says it is probing the incident.
 
Some 184 fatal shootings have been recorded since the start of the year, compared with 83 over the similar period last year.
