Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has welcomed the partnership agreement between Sandals Resorts and Royal Caribbean Group, saying it could expand Jamaica's international reach and create new opportunities for investment, workers and local businesses.
Minister Bartlett said while details of the agreement are still to emerge and the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions, the government will continue discussions with both companies.
He said combining Sandals Resorts' expertise with Royal Caribbean's international customer base and distribution networks could expose Jamaica to wider markets and support increased demand for hotel stays.
Minister Bartlett says this could also lead to further investment and opportunities for Jamaican farmers, manufacturers, attractions and creative enterprises.
