Khadene Thomas, the former National Commercial Bank employee who pleaded guilty to stealing J$74.5 million from the financial institution, is to be sentenced today.

Thomas pleaded guilty to 31 counts of uttering forged documents and three counts of larceny as a servant in February when she appeared before the St. Ann's Bay Parish Court.

The 36 year-old banker had also signaled her intension to make restitution.

During the hearing, her attorney, Matthew Hyatt had requested eight months for her to make restitution but the judge gave her until today.

Her bail was subsequently extended.

The prosecution contends that Thomas transferred the sums from the accounts of three customers during the period May 21, 2019 to December 20, 2022.

Thomas was arrested last January after the transfer of at least five million dollars from a customer's account sparked an investigation.
