The operators of funeral homes across the island are faced with a major problem, that of having several unclaimed bodies.
The operators say it's not just costing them millions to house these bodies - sometimes for years, but it is a also a health concern.
Managing Director of the House of Tranquility Funeral Home, Joseph Cornwall says up to December 2013 there were 30 unclaimed bodies at his establishment.
Another problem faced is the difficulty in getting rid of the bodies without documents such as the order for burial or the certificate of burial.
Within the last six months, Cornwall says the funeral home managed to get rid of 22 bodies which were bring held on behalf of the government when the police authorized a pauper's burial.
But he added that there are still eight bodies from private individuals that are still at the funeral home - some have been in storage for over two years.
Another funeral home, Witter and Sons has a similar problem, that of having nine unclaimed bodies. Of the nine, one is the body of Joel Wynter,19, that has been in the system for almost three years.
These are only some of the problems facing funeral directors and at a cost of J$3,000 per day for storage, they are losing millions of dollars .
