Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith has pushed back at criticisms from the People's National Party that the Government has been silent on issues affecting the Middle East, including Palestine.
The PNP has criticised the Government for what it said was its failure to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people during key moments at the United Nations General Assembly which ended Monday in New York.
Senator Johnson Smith stressed that it is a matter of widely reported public record that Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness told the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly that Jamaica was deeply horrified by the devastating humanitarian consequences of the counteroffensive in Palestinian territories.
She said Dr. Holness also indicated that Jamaica condemns the heinous October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
She characterised the Opposition's approaches to foreign policy issues as unfortunate.
