Dr Elon Thompson
Government senator Dr Elon Thompson has accused the Opposition of political opportunism in its highlighting of challenges plaguing the public healthcare system.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Opposition Spokesperson on Health & Wellness Dr Alfred Dawes said the government was downplaying the mould infestation at the Kingston Public Hospital.
Dr Dawes also claimed the public health care system was in a state of crisis.
But, Dr Thompson, in a scathig response on Wednesday, said it was "unfortunate" that Dr. Dawes displayed political partisanship in his rhetoric.
He said the Jamaica Labour Party's administration was not in the business of hiding challenges associated with Jamaica's health care system.
Dr Thompson and Dr Dawes both served as President of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association.
