Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the government will be establishing a task force, dubbed SPEED, by the end of next month to improve efficiency and boost transformation within the country.
Dr. Holness explains that the taskforce will identify bottlenecks, recommend actionable solutions and deliver tangible outcomes within specified timelines.
He says this will ensure Jamaica's business environment meets world-class standards.
Dr. Holness, speaking Tuesday at the Jamaica Stock Exchange's 20th Regional Investments and Capital Markets Conference, added that his administration is determined to end the outdated notion that efficiency compromises quality.
He said efficient government processes will also make it faster for citizens to interact with public agencies.
"We are the country of the fastest man alive. We must translate that speed on the track, to the speed of doing business. To drive this transformation, I will appoint the SPEED task force - Streamlining Processes for Efficiency and Economic Development, SPEED. And we will do that by the end of February," he announced.
