Green predicts rapid post hurricane recovery for agriculture sector

Agriculture Minister Floyd Green has declared that the country's agriculture sector is poised to make a speedy recovery following the ravages of hurricane Beryl in July.

The Minister, speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, said the government has pumped an additional one billion dollars into the sector to assist farmers in the replanting exercise.

According to Mr Green, the sector has made a rapid recovery following the devastation caused by the hurricane.

He added that RADA has been distributing millions of dollars worth of fertilizers and seedlings to hundreds of farmers as part of the recovery exercise.

Assistance will be extended to coffee, poultry and livestock farmers who suffered major loses during the hurricane, the Minister added.
