The Grenada government yesterday began an assessment of the damage caused by heavy rains associated with a shearline that affected mainly the northern and portions of the western and eastern parishes on Tuesday.
The authorities said there were no reports of deaths or injuries linked to the weather, but the homes of several families were either displaced or lost due to landslides.
Finance Minister Dennis Cornwall said the findings of the preliminary assessment will determine if the government files a claim with the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility Segregated Portfolio Company.
