The public relations officer of the main opposition party in Grenada, the New National Party, Emmalin Pierre, says she intends to contest for leadership of the party whenever the elections are called.
Ms Pierre, who is also the parliamentary representative, says it is the wish of NNP and opposition leader Dr Keith Mitchell that the party continues to exist when he is no longer involved in politics.
Dr Mitchell has been the NNP leader since 1989.
The 76-year-old, who led the party into defeat in the June 2022 general election, says the election will only take place when the party is satisfied that it is ready for the political event.
