Grenada teachers take industrial action over unpaid salaries

Teachers in Grenada are in their second day of industrial action over the non-payment of salaries to some of their colleagues.

The Grenada Union of Teachers has indicated that it is prepared to take further action to ensure a speedy resolution to this critical issue.

Union president, Jude Bartholomew, said for several months the union had been pointing out that many teachers were not receiving salaries in line with the scheduled bi-weekly payment.

The union said the delay in the payment for the affected teachers began in August and the Ministry of Education is yet to provide a definitive explanation.

The non-payment is affecting both permanent and temporary teachers.
