The Ministry of Education says preliminary reports indicate that the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) got off to a smooth start across the island on Thursday.
In a statement, the Ministry said although there was residual smoke at schools in the vicinity of the Riverton City disposal site, students and teachers said it was manageable and would not affect the holding of the exam.
The two day exam was delayed by a week due to the smoke nuisance from the massive fire at the Riverton City disposal site.Just over 38,000 students are sitting the GSAT at 1,112 examination centres across the island.
Meanwhile, all schools contacted by RJR News said they had no hiccups prior to the start of the exam.
These were some of the schools which were severely impacted by the smoke from the Disposal Site.
The Principals of the Dunrobin Primary and Preparatory schools in St. Andrew said everything went smoothly.
