The Guyana police seized 28 firearms, including handguns and high powered rifles, along with a cache of ammunition on Wednesday during an intelligence led operation.
Six people have also been arrested and are in custody, assisting with the investigation.
The police team went to the home of a clothes vendor where a search was carried out and three firearms and several rounds of ammunition were discovered.
A vehicle parked in the vicinity of the premises was searched and the remaining 25 weapons were recovered from a suitcase and a golf bag that were inside the vehicle.
The firearms, ammunition and magazines were taken to the Ballistic Section for examination.
