Guyana and Suriname have reiterated the importance of a fixed connection between the two countries as they discussed the financing modalities for the construction of the Corentyne River bridge before the end of this year.
A joint statement issued yesterday, following the meeting of the Ministerial Committee of Suriname and Guyana, said the event was held as part of the on-going process to pursue this project initiated by President Chandrikapersad Santokhi and President Irfaan Ali in November 2020.
It said both sides reiterated the importance of a fixed connection between the two countries to advance economic opportunities and connect the road network between the two countries.
