Nicola Clarke, the woman who was doused with gasoline and set on fire in Great River, Hanover two weeks ago, left Jamaica on Thursday afternoon for the US to be treated for severe burns.

Miss Clarke boarded a private jet at Sangster International Airport.

She was accompanied by a relative.

Miss Clarke's mother, Loleitha Scarlett, said the treatment is critical to her daughter's survival as her burns are severe.

Ms Clarke was being treated at Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James. However, the hospital does not have a burn unit.

Miss Clarke was allegedly injured by her common-law husband during an argument at her shop.

He was arrested on Saturday at Savanna-la Mar Hospital while being treated for injuries he received during the attack.
