The Ministry of Health has announced that
the restriction placed on the sale of Zyrtec has been removed.
The Ministry had previously suspended the sale of children's preparations which included Zrytec, Tylenol, Benadryl, Tylenol Plus and Motrin.
The products were recalled by McNeil Consumer Health Care, a US based company, because they did not meet required quality specifications.
The preparation for Zyrtec Oral solution is manufactured in Italy by GlaxoSmithKline and is imported directly to Jamaica from the European Market.
The Zyrtec affected by the recall is manufactured in the United States.
The Ministry is therefore reinstating the use of Zyrtec Oral Solutions on the local market.
The Ministry says the restriction remains for the other products until it is able to ascertain whether any of the affected batches arrived here.
