Heavy duty vehicles restricted from using Black River Bridge

Effective immediately trucks, trailers and other heavy duty vehicles are restricted from using the Black River Bridge in St. Elizabeth.

The National Works Agency, NWA says the action has become necessary because of the damage being caused to the bridge by these heavy duty vehicles.

The NWA says damage to the bridge occurred as recent as this past weekend.

 The works agency says truckers travelling from the direction of Santa Cruz, Lacovia, Middle Quarters, and Savanna-la-mar and heading towards southern St. Elizabeth should travel from Lacovia, through Burnt Savannah and Mountain Side.

Truckers travelling from Southern St. Elizabeth and heading towards Black River, Savanna-la-mar, New Market or Santa Cruz should travel through Mountain Side, Burnt Savannah and Lacovia.

The NWA is advising truckers to obey the posted signs which will

display the detour routes.
