Hurricane Jose's projected path
Hurricane Jose continues to strengthen, moving west-northwest.
The storm is expected to continue moving in this direction over the next few days.
Jose is not expected to follow the same path as Irma. Instead, it will likely curve up into the open Atlantic and become a major hurricane Category 3 or more.
The closest land mass Jose will approach is the northern Leeward Islands, the same ones Irma just devastated.
It is not expected be close enough, however, to cause direct destruction but could potentially bring another round of wind and rain to the ravaged islands.
