J$12 billion cocaine bust in Havendale the largest in Jamaica's history

The authorities are reporting the largest cocaine bust in Jamaica's history, following the seizure of over 5,500 kilogrammes of cocaine with a street value of US$76 million or nearly J$12 billion on Tuesday.
 
Five men are custody in connection with the seizure.
 
The arrests and seizure were made during an anti-narcotics operation by a team of police officers from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) in Havendale, St. Andrew.
 
It's reported that FNID officers, with support from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch, raided a premises, resulting in the arrest of the men and the seizure of a number of knitted bags containing cocaine.
 
Superintendent Sam Blake, head of the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division, said the operation has put a dent into a drug trafficking network. 
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that a Colombian national, an accountant as well as a deportee are among the five men nabbed.
