The murder of a couple in Mount Pleasant, Portland on Friday has again placed the country in a negative light internationally.
The couple returned to Jamaica a year ago from England.
Monday's edition of UK newspaper The Sun described Jamaica as a paradise lost.
The newspaper said Jamaica - famous for its sandy white beaches and tropical climate - is now becoming known for a terrifying wave of murders.
It said there is a growing problem with gun violence and shootings which has this year extended to tourist regions of the country.
The newspaper went on to say that Jamaica's tourist hotspots have been plagued by gang wars with murder rates 50 times higher than Britain.
The article comes in the wake of the murders of 74 year old Alford Anderson, otherwise called Charlie and his 71 year old wife, Florence, at their home on Friday afternoon.
Their bodies had several injuries and were partially burnt.
Their house was also damaged by fire.
The Sun said the murders are the latest of thousands to have occurred over the last few years.
The article also quoted the murder rate for 2016 when more than 1,600 people were killed.
