With stray animals increasingly posing a danger on the roads in St Elizabeth, plans are now being finalised for the establishment of a functional animal pound.

Mayor of Black River and Chairman of the St Elizabeth Municipal Corporation, Richard Solomon says the facility will be used to house animals—particularly cows—that have been roaming the roadways and creating hazards for motorists.

Mayor Solomon also noted that a public education campaign will be launched ahead of the pound's opening to inform residents about the new measures and encourage responsible animal ownership.
