The Ministry of Tourism says Jamaica is to benefit from increased flights from the United States and Canada, starting November.

The new flights include US carriers United Airlines with nonstop flights between Denver, Colorado and Montego Bay, starting November 4, and American Airlines with up to four daily nonstop flights between Charlotte, North Carolina and Montego Bay, starting December 5.

The Tourism Ministry says Canadian carrier Westjet will begin nonstop flights between Edmonton, Canada and Montego Bay on November 12.

Senior advisor and strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright, said the new flights are a result of work done with stakeholders in the international travel community.

"We are now reaping those rewards and we continue to outpace many of our competitors. The competition is very very strong now as the whole world is pretty much open, but despite that, we have several more new flights coming on stream later this year and into 2024. This will include a new Canadian airline that wants to start services shortly, so we're very happy with the performance so far. It's been absolutely phenomenal," said the tourism stategist.
