Jamaican among 18 held in US immigration detention

A Jamaican national was among 18 people recently apprehended by officers from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
 
The operation targeted individuals who pose a threat to public safety.
 
ICE said the Jamaican national is a 55-year-old man, who was convicted for possession of cocaine and narcotic equipment.
 
He is pending a removal hearing by an immigration judge.
 
The enforcement action was conducted from July 8 to 11, and spanned several counties in Southeast Florida.
