A report from KMOX Radio in St. Louis, Missouri
A Jamaican man is facing federal charges in the US on accusations of scamming seniors into thinking they won the lottery.
The US Department of Justice said the victims would get a call from Jamaica telling them they had won the Jamaican lottery despite them not being able to recall ever purchasing a ticket.
The Department of Justice said 48 year old Christopher Gibbon then sent fake letters to the victims claiming to be from the FBI or IRS, telling people to send money to cover taxes and fees to get their jackpot.
The victims were all over 78 years old.
Gibbon has fled the area and the FBI is looking to arrest him on charges of mail fraud, wire fraud and bank fraud.
