Jamaican man sentenced to five years in US federal prison for illegal re-entry

 
A Jamaican man who illegally re-entered the United States on two occasions, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty in February. 
 
A US District Judge in Tampa, Florida sentenced 55-year-old Hubert Crew on the charge of illegal re-entry by an aggravated felon. 
 
According to court records, Crew was initially removed from the United States on January 26, 2007 following his release from a federal prison on charges of misprision of a felony, failure to appear and making a false statement on a passport application. 
 
He subsequently re-entered the US and was removed on two more occasions on April 26, 2013 and November 30, 2016. 
 
On November 7, 2024, federal immigration authorities found the Jamaican at a residence in Tampa after receiving an anonymous tip that he had re-entered the country illegally.
