A Jamaican woman is to be arraigned in a federal court in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday on a charge of illegal entry into the United States.
Tanya James, 53, was last week indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of unlawful re-entry of a deported alien.
She remains in immigration custody.
According to the charging document, on her about May 12 this year, James was found to have unlawfully re-entered to the United States after previously being deported in 2004.
The charge of unlawful re-entry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release and a fine of up to US$250,000.
The defendant is subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed.
