Two Jamaican women will be deported from Antigua and Barbuda after being involved in a physical altercation with an immigration officer at the VC Bird International Airport on Sunday.

The duo, Alicia Ricketts and Renea Nelson, were denied entry by the Immigration Officer following their arrival at the airport on Sunday.

While in custody, reports are Ms. Nelson became boisterous and the situation escalated further as Ms. Ricketts assaulted immigration officer, Tiffany Ramsey.

Following the brawl, the incident was referred to the magistrate's court, where Ms. Ricketts pleaded guilty to the charge of battery against the immigration officer and was ordered to pay EC$400.

She was also fined EC$500 for resisting arrest.

Meanwhile, her accomplice Ms. Nelson also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined EC$250.

The incident led the Immigration Department to swiftly apply for the immediate deportation of the two women, which was upheld by the court.

They are to leave the country on the first available flight back to Jamaica.
