JDF soldier charged after being found with guns and ammunition at Up Park Camp

A member of the Jamaica Defence Force has been charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition after several firearms and ammunition were found in his vehicle at Up Park Camp on Sunday.
 
Reports are that about 7:56 p.m., 23-year-old Private Jesimiel Jonah Brown was stopped at a checkpoint.
 
During a search of his vehicle, a JDF kit bag was found containing a browning nine millimeter pistol, a Smith and Wesson firearm, a toy imitation pistol along with several assorted rounds of ammunition.
 
The JDF also found seventeen 5.56 blank rounds, six 5.56 live rounds, a black taser gun, binoculars, a laser flashlight with charger, as well as two infrared lasers with attachments, a combat knife, pistol hostler, rifle scope pepper spray and several gloves.
 
The soldier, of a Commodore address in Linstead, St. Catherine, was detained.
