JLP administration wants Dutch embassy reopened in Jamaica

The Jamaica Labour Party administration is trying to get the Dutch Government to reopen its embassy in Jamaica.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness told the House of Representatives on Tuesday that he has held talks with Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Since the closure of the Dutch embassy in Kingston in 2004, visa applications for the Netherlands have been handled by the French embassy in Jamaica.

In 2006 an honorary consulate for the Netherlands was opened in Kingston for economic and consular affairs.
