In a dramatic wtist, the Kingston Central seat has now been declared for the Jamaica Labour Party's Donovan Williams after an initial declaration for the People's National Party's Steve McGregor.
Following the preliminary count in Wednesday's parliamentary general election, McGregor was declared the winner by 12 votes over Williams, the incumbent.
This now gives the JLP 35 seats to the PNP's 28.
After the final ballot was counted by the returning Officer on Friday evening, Mr Williams was declared the winner by a margin of 79 votes, maintaining the JLP's hold on a seat that used to be a predictable win for the PNP.
An elated Mr Williams said he was always confident of victory.
The PNP is questioning the outcome following the official count, and is contemplating its next move.
