JLP promising grant of $100,000 to students in good standing with the SLB

Finance Minister Fayval Williams

Finance Minister Fayval Williams has announced that, should the governing Jamaica Labour Party win the September 3 election, it will provide a one-time grant of $100,000 to students who are in good standing with the Students' Loan Bureau.

Mrs Williams, speaking at the JLP election rally in Montego Bay on Sunday evening, said this was being done “because we understand that many parents have been struggling to help their children through college.”

The students will be able to reduce their loan balance with this money or purchase items such as a laptop or books, or even to “cover general living expenses,” she explained.
