Supporters of the Jamaica Labour Party have been cautioned against becoming complacent ahead of the upcoming general parliamentary election.

The general election is due to be held next year.

Deputy Leader for Area Council 4 of the Jamaica Labour Party Michael Stern says much has been achieved by the current administration which must be shared far and wide as the party enters the final year of its current lifespan.

"This country was way down in the pits. This country never have no reserve; this country, financially, was in trouble when we take it over. And the Andrew Holness administration [has] stabilised the country and it is one of the achievement that people, people outside of Jamaica really are proud of - I'm talking diaspora."

While he acknowledged that people living in Jamaica are "still looking for more", he urged JLP supporters to be mindful of the government's achievements and to go out and spread that message.

Mr. Stern was speaking recently at a divisional conference in Manchester Southern.
