The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is urging the electorate to reject the People's National Party (PNP) in light of the divisive utterances from political platforms as campaigning intensifies.
JLP Senior Communications Task Force member Senator Marlon Morgan says recent vulgar and reckless comments have been linked to PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell and Member of Parliament for St. Catherine Eastern Denise Daley, which only served to incite political hostility.
While addressing a mass rally in Spanish Town, St. Catherine last week, Ms. Daley is reported to have urged PNP supporters to harbour dislike for the JLP administration as it had no interest in the well-being of Jamaicans. And addressing a party meeting in Oracabessa, St. Mary on Sunday, Dr. Campbell among other things called for operators of public passenger vehicles to withhold their service from JLP supporters on Election Day.
Senator Morgan accused the PNP of becoming increasingly desperate and unravelling at an alarming pace in the face of the JLP's achievement-based campaign.
"Campbell declared that if the government doesn't call the election, the opposition PNP will. He went on to assert that opposition MPs were only afforded a small quantity of Grand Gala tickets and threatened that PNP supporters are going to go to the event big and bold because Jamaica belongs to the PNP and they are taking it back from the Jamaica Labour Party. There is no general secretary of any political party in the history of Jamaica who has exhibited the level of disrespect, desperation, entitlement and contempt for the Jamaican people than Dayton Campbell," he contended.
