The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says its crews are working to address outages being experienced by some customers, in light of the ongoing effects of the adverse weather conditions.
It says roughly two per cent or approximately 14,000 customers across the country have been affected due to landslides and trees coming in contact with, and breaking power lines.
The majority of these incidents are in Kingston and rural St. Andrew.
JPS says restoration efforts are being hampered by the current conditions, and by lack of access.
The light and power company adds that crews are unable to carry out restoration work in Mavis Bank due to a landslide, which has cut off access.
Some 1,200 customers are without power supply in that community.
It notes that the possibility of conditions across the island worsening later Friday or early Saturday, with high probability of more flooding and landslides, may also affect aspects of the electricity network.
JPS says teams will continue to remain alert and will take restorative action as quickly as safety factors allow, so customers can be restored in the shortest time possible.
