The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it has completed restoration of electricity to the Roaring River National Water Commission (NWC) pump, which serves residents across Westmoreland.
In a statement on Friday, JPS said, "the energiation of these lines, leading to the pump, was completed on Wednesday night, where the tests confirming that supply was provided."
The restored lines are also providing electricity to sections of Westmoreland, including Petersfield, Waterworks and Shrewsbury Falls.
JPS said the restoration required rebuilding over 10 miles of electricity lines from the Paradise Substation to the Roaring River Pump.
It said more than 100 linesmen were involved in the work to ensure the supply was reinstated.
On Tuesday, Energy Minister Daryl Vaz said approximately 51,000 JPS customers remained without electricity in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
He noted that electricity had been restored to the majority of customers in the hardest hit parishes, which are mostly in western Jamaica.
Mr. Vaz said, in Westmoreland, 17,000 of 34,000 customers were without electricity.
Westmoreland Eastern Member of Parliament Dr. Dayton Campbell lamented on Tuesday that no one in his constituency had received power months after the hurricane struck.
Earlier on Friday, Mr. Vaz said power returned to Darliston in Westmoreland Eastern.
