Despite travelling with a depleted squad, West Indies head coach Daren Sammy is still viewing the upcoming 3-match series against Afghanistan as a crucial part of the regional side's preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The squad which is missing several senior players including regular captain Shai Hope and former skippers Rovman Powell and Jason Holder, had their first training session in Dubai on Friday ahead of Monday's opening game of the series.
Sammy also pointed out that the games against Afghanistan will be used to work on specific role execution for each player. The first game against the Afghans will be played on Monday starting at 9:30 am Jamaica time. Games two and three will be played next Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
