Winsome Callum, Director of Corporate Communication, JPS

The Jamaica Public Service says it is prepared to respond to the potential impact of the adverse weather conditions that are expected to affect the island over the next few days.

The light & power company says it has activated its 24-hour Adverse Weather Incident Command Operations.

Information from the Meteorological Service indicates that the approaching system is likely to affect most parishes, with showers, thunderstorms and strong winds.

These conditions could result in power outages.

Communication Manager at the Light & Power Company Winsome Callum told Radio Jamaica News that JPS has already started taking the required steps to restore power in a timely manner, if required.

She added that JPS has made arrangements with external contractors to assist in any restoration exercise.
