JTA wants security boost for schools in Westmoreland

The Jamaica Teachers' Association is calling for security to be boosted in schools in sections of Westmoreland, in light of  reports of various threats of violence.

Parents and guardians descended on Grange Hill Primary School in the parish on Tuesday after they reportedly received a threat that the institution would be attacked by gunmen.

The issue caused panicked parents to pull their children from school before classes ended.

President of the Jamaica Teachers' Association Leighton Johnson said several schools have been affected by the issue.

He said the situation is having a severe psychological impact on students, teachers and parents.
